DIFCO provides passivation of stainless steel services. Passivation removes ferrous surface contamination created when stainless steel is machined and fabricated. Pasivation also removes other foreign materials incurred during the manufacturing process, such as sulfides added to enhance machinability. These contaminants can result in premature corrosion that could ultimately damage the part. In addition to surface cleaning, passivation forms a thin, transparent oxide coating that fights oxidation.
Stainless steel is already known as being corrosion-resistant, however the passivation process further strengthens its natural coating by improving the exterior surface of the part.
It is important to note, passivation is not an electrolytic process, is not used as a method to remove oxide from parts that have been welded or heat treated, and does not change the surface appearance of steel.
DIFCO utilizes high performance proprietary equipment that allows your batch needs to be fully customized. Contact us today and find out how we can help you achieve your finishing goals.
