DIFCO actively pursues new and improved avenues for minimizing environmental impact
Since its establishment in 1960, DIFCO has strived to exceed environmental regulations by employing the latest technological advances. In 1998, DIFCO installed a high-tech micro filtration waste water treatment system. DIFCO also participates in the voluntary National Strategic Goals Program: the program helps DIFCO to establish goals that represent “better than compliance” levels of environmental performance. Through the NSG Program, Durable Industrial Finishing reduced water consumption by 23% between 2002 and 2003, and DIFCO sends solid waste offsite for stabilization, neutralization and disposal.
During the drought of 2008 Georgia Governor Perdue asked manufacturing to voluntarily reduce water consumption by 10%. During the next year DIFCO was able to reduce overall water consumption by 50% through automation, conservation and recycling methods.
